Is Alcoholics Anonymous a religion and faith system

Websters dic: Religion

1 a: the state of a religious b (1): the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2): commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance2: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices3archaic : scrupulous conformity : conscientiousness4: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith

It seems it doesn’t matter if the highest court in America has ruled it a religion, not only that, but ruled it “unequivocally religious”, “deeply religious” and “intensely religious.”

I should be able to stop there, but the people, courts, media, medical fields, and America are brainwashed.

Break down the steps to what they really say:

Say you went to a group or club of any kind and they told you, in-order to be a participating member you must: (notice the capitol “G”, I think Bill w. new grammar and new what that ment.)

1. believe in (a) God
2. submit your will to God
3. confess your sins to God
4. Ask God to take away your sins
5. Meditate on God
6. Pray to God
7. Spread the Gospel of AA

(taken directly from 12 steps)Link

My 10 year old son could tell you thats a religion.

These are not “suggestions” as they claim, As bill W. said,” if you don’t follow these and the big Book eventually you will Die, or end up in Jail. (question 6)
I also hear this in class, they say “take what you want leave the rest” then they say a few days later “if you don’t follow ALL the steps and devote your mind to THE BIG BOOK, you will stay in the darkness. And may die and never recover. WAHT! I thought it was all about never recovering.

The God of AA:

What you will hear at the meeting and in publications is that if you don’t have a God. “We will be your God” that gets into the cult of AA i’ll talk about later.

I, as a christian can’t be apart of AA according to the scripture I believe in. Because The God of AA is a plural God. Also known as pagan God.
By affirming All Gods as Equal, they disaffirm the one God I believe in. So that’s a big personal thing with me. I’m also very offended that they steel so much from the christian God. And I’m surprised that others are not offended, like say hindus, or or harry christna. To tell them that the only way they can be saved is by the hacked wisdom of the Christian God.

{Websters:
God

1capitalized : the supreme or ultimate reality: as a: the Being perfect in power, wisdom, and goodness who is worshipped as creator and ruler of the universe bChristian Science : the incorporeal divine Principle ruling over all as eternal Spirit : infinite Mind 2: a being or object believed to have more than natural attributes and powers and to require human worship ; specifically : one controlling a particular aspect or part of reality

I like how they ease you in with “HIGHER POWER” and then a step later the higher power mysteriously turns in to Capitol “God”.

Attributes of AA God:
(These are not suggestions they are what you must believe about God to be saved. And yes HE is called “HE” in all there literature)

This is read every meeting:

RARELY HAVE we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path. Those who do not recover are people who cannot or will not completely give themselves to this simple program, usually men and women who are constitutionally incapable of being honest with themselves. There are such unfortunates. They are not at fault; they seem to have been born that way. They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which demands rigorous honesty.
The Big Book, William G. Wilson, Chapter 5, How It Works, page 58.

attributes:

He Requires Faith (step 2)
He requires submission of your will (step three)
You must confess your sins directly to him (step 5)
He requires that we trust him to remove our sins (Step 6-7)
Requires we humble ourselves before him (Step 6-7)
He requires that we meditate on him (step 11)
He requires that we pray to him (step 11)
He requires us to spread the Gospel of AA (Step 12) (remember this is a Step, we must spread the gospel and bring in converts to be saved by AA)
There are many more in the big book, that talk about his love, his patcience, kindness, omniscience etc..

The Hindus have 10,000 deities in their religion—Alcoholics Anonymous has millions.

Ok, I have no problems with a God like this. In fact sounds allot like my God. But the problem is again, the lies lies lies. They say you can have any God you want? Well am I supposed to submit and humble myself to Man? Once again they will say over and over; they will be your God and your sponsor will. Or anything can be your God. The problem is that it has to be like the God of AA. and this is a very specific God. This is insane! There is only one God in history that has all these attributes and that is the Christian God… ya the same one that prescribes hard drink as medication for the heavy heart and wine for the poor to forget their poverty. Was called a alcoholic himself (jesus) because he drank apparently too much for some. and who said wine was a blessing to man, and that our eyes will be dull with it in heaven. (I hope AAs not in Hevan) So apparently they are following there own advise to “take what you want and leave the rest”.

You tend to be euphoric when you’ve been drunk all your life. .. but that gives me chills down my spine.. really that’s kinda freaky.
