Now once agin, I have to dig through some papers to remember the names of the Mental wards I speak of. But incase you don’t know the back story, I spent the good part of a year in different mental wards, sometimes returning to the same one multiple times. So I try to bring the story out of what is really going on there.
I can’t say this was the most shocking, but it was close to it… because I’ve seen a few movies on this subject, and never thought this is something that would happen in the good o’l USA…
I can’t say this was the most shocking, but it was close to it… because I’ve seen a few movies on this subject, and never thought this is something that would happen in the good o’l USA… especially when the government is involved. When I arrived at this particular ward.. After the regular checkin strip and such there was a little meeting we were we learned about a way to make money while we were in the ward, and also get cigarettes burger king, and pretty much anything we needed.

Well, it came with a price tag. And, that price tag was that you were a Guinea pig for the Pharmaceutical Companies. Yes. Testing experimental drugs on, I would say 90% homeless people, for $200 a month and cigs and such. It was tempting after a few days, cause while i ate crap mystery meat, all the trial people, which was allot, ate hamburgers and had pizza. I think they actually had a pizza party.. YES, now that I think of it they did, cause my buddy snuk me in.
These Pharmaceutical cats seemed to run the roost there, had their own office and were in and out all day long bringing cigarets and testing the homeless dudes.
These Pharmaceutical cats seemed to run the roost there, had their own office and were in and out all day long bringing cigarets and testing the homeless dudes. One guy I remember that was pretty straight, and then had a freak out while on their drugs, so they took him off, or he took himself off, I don’t know.
the point is, that in my group which was about 10 people, 8 of them were in the program. I tried to sign up because I needed money, but they wouldn’t let me. I later found out from one of the homeless people the right things to say when you sign up.
I only met one man there on private insurance… and he was gone in two days. The rest were government funded, and lived in and out of these places, and knew the ins and outs, medication so well, that they could easily pass for a physiologist… I’m not kidding, they knew the drugs up and down, all the side effects, the highs, how to get the highs.. names, medical names, disorders to get good drugs and so on. I’ll have to write more on the actual patients. But, for now, the movies of stealing the homeless and finding a cure for cancer are not so far off. This is where your drugs come from, this is where they are tested at least one place they are tested, and heavily tested… These guys/gals could give a shit about the program. They had all learned what to say on the streets to get more and better drugs.. and they tough me, and I must say, it was a wonderful stay.
