Casting lots

I’m reading the old testament to my son now, and we see here and there the use of casting lots in finding God’s direction. As I read this to him, I notice anew in my new testament readings the same casting of lots to find God’s direction. Why is this not something we do anymore? Just wondering. I’m sure some theologian has a good answer… But, there is no prohibition of this whatsoever anywhere… Just a curious thought..
