Alcoholics Anonymous: Cult or Cure

Keeping an open mind is a virtue,
but not so open that your brains fall out.
James Oberg

Well I’ve been consumed with AA for about a week or so. I knew nothing much of AA at my first meeting, witch was strongly suggested to me by many. Within five minutes in I was already disgusted with at-least the leader by a “unofficial” conversation and by the end I was shocked by what I heard and that so many people were buying into this. So I looked around and found a wealth of info on AA and it’s doctrines.

AA is slippery, cause it is a unorganized organization. Groups deffer vastly. So I just look at the doctrines of the 12 steps the big book and the founders. This is just one week of looking around, I’m sure if I spent some time I could write a book.

The first thing that struck me is that my AA leader was actively trying to send one of the members to jail, and doing it very openly, talking trash about him behind his back, in the guise that he was concerned. The guy was coherst to AA, and felt he couldn’t attend because it was a religion. They laughed this off, and I sorta did too until about 1 hour in, where I found this is most defiantly a religion I’ve been to churches that were less a religion.

Not that I have a problem with religion in general. I am very religious and have studied religion for years. My problem is that they lie about it, and that it can be indirectly state funded and it has nothing medical about it for a supposed “incurable disease”. I don’t go to my pastor for help with my spleen so why would I go to a self deemed therapist (ex-drunk) spiritual leader for a “disease”. It’s crazy. They tell you it’s a disease out of one corner of there mouth. (witch there is absolutely no proof of) and out of the other corner; being spiritual is the only cure for this illness.

I see so many lies, bate and switch, deceptions, shame mongering, misrepresentations, lies lies lies, and I’ve only been to three meetings.

Most of this is through my eyes as a Christian but any one can see this is absurd. I’ll try to show how absurd this religon is over the next couple of weeks through my experiences and others, the twelve steps, the Big Book, and Founders and leaders writings and ideas.

hahahah… I guess you didn’t investigate, I write that I have studied this long days, months and years. I must point out at this time.. that Kelly is a naughty girl, because she SPAMEd all over m site.. I wonder if she is one of the many getting rich off your drunk ass… oh wait… she is. She does AA by the sea, for I’m sure, a hefty charge… lies go down easier while your staring at the beautiful ocean that some bodies higher power made. Ok.. you can go to her site.. link on the left. See big bucks sober living has allot to loose if pre WWII recovery technology goes the way of shock treatment.. she will have to find something new that doesn’t work.
